REPORTS: How a man who is an orphan was mobbed to death in Isiala Ngwa for allegedly stealing a pastor's Nokia Torch | #NwokeukwuMascot

An angry mob in Umuehim Nvosi, Isialangwa south LGA of Abia state killed and buried a farmer, Mbaogu Eke, on Sunday. He was accused of stealing a Nokia torch that belonged to the resident pastor of United Evangelical Church Umuehim Nvosi.

The deceased Mr Mbaogu Eke who is said to be an orphan and a single man in his early 40s has about five step siblings, three sisters and two brothers.

Our source, an indigene of Umuehim who pleaded anonymity said one of his step brothers, Mr. Shadrach Eke reportedly said he didn't want chaos and wasn't reporting the incident to the police.

He further said; “There’s a case of murder in my community, Where they accused a young man of stealing Nokia touch, and beat him to death and buried him Sunday night. without notice to the police.

“The phone is still ringing as at yesterday, Monday. The man’s name is Mbaogu Eke, the phone belongs to a pastor, in United Evangelical Church Umuehim Nvosi. I don't know the pastors name, they posted him there not too long.

“The angry youths took him to the village Hall built by Gov Otti and beat him to death, The painful part is the man has no parents, He was buried same Sunday night around 9pm.

“He has about 3 sisters and two brothers, but not from same mother. One of his brother called Shedrack Eke said he doesn’t want case and won’t involve the police.” he ended.

Further investigations revealed that the incident happened in a kindred called Ubaka Umuehim, in the same village with Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti who is from Umuru, Umuehim village all in Ehi Na Uguru Ancient Kingdom, Isiala Ngwa South LGA in Abia State.
