A coup attempt by unidentified gunmen who tried to break into the armoury in Sierra Leone’s capital, Freetown, has been reported.
Reports say due to the ugly situation currently in Freetown, the Sierra Leone Government slammed a curfew until further notice.
The government said in a statement that the security forces are in control of the situation.
“In the early hours of Sunday, some unidentified individuals attempted to break into the military armoury at the Wilberforce barracks. They have been rebuffed,” information minister Chernor Bah said in the statement.
This comes a few months after a group of military officers in Gabon announced seized power in the African nation.
