In the letter, Senator Nwokocha expresses his gratitude for the opportunity to have worked with his fellow senators and served as the Distinguished Minority Whip of the 10th Senate.

Recall we had earlier reported how the appellate court sacked Hon Darlington Nwokocha for not complying with the electoral law, declaring Sen Austin Akobundu as the winner of the Abia Central Senatorial Election.

Highlighting the journey that led him to the Senate, Hon Nwokocha in the a letter captioned; LETTER OF APPRECIATION , the former chief whip of the 10th Assembly recalled the events that shaped his inspiring journey and the collaborative efforts made with his colleagues to tackle the socio-economic and political challenges facing Nigeria. He further commended the dedication and commitment of his fellow senators in designing innovative solutions and advancing the Nigerian project through legislative governance.

Despite the setback of his recent dismissal by the appellate court, Senator Nwokocha remains grateful for the chance to contribute and serve the people of Abia Central Senatorial District. The letter partly says “l acknowledges the support received from my family and also appreciate my colleagues for the privilege they granted me.” He said.

Darlington Nwokocha’s letter reads in full: “Dear Distinguished Colleagues,

“With a heart of thanksgiving, I write to offer the compliments of my family and to express my deepest gratitude to you all - Distinguished Senators of the 10th Senate for the opportunity to have worked harmoniously with everyone as the Senator representing the good people of Abia Central Senatorial District and the privilege granted me to have served as the Distinguished Minority Whip of the 10th Senate.

“I recall with nostalgic excitement, the events that shaped my inspiring journey to the 10th Senate and the opportunity we have had to work together, designing innovative solutions to the myriad of Nigeria's socioeconomic and political challenges through quality legislative governance and advancing the cause of the Nigerian project. Working with you all, Distinguished Colleagues, in the last six months since the inauguration of the 10th Senate on the 13th of June 2023, has been one of the proudest and greatest moments of my life and political career.

“In the 10th Senate, I found a unique family of patriotic Nigerians willing to make a difference. Indeed, I was pleasantly overwhelmed and touched by the incredible show of support, solidarity, and demonstrable display of love shown to me by our Distinguished Colleagues, during my trying moments, following the unfortunate decision of the National Assembly Election Petition Appeal Court that upturned my legitimate mandate and resounding electoral victory at the polls.

“Although, my patriotic journey in this august Assembly at this time, may have been abruptly cut short I am however, optimistic that the strong bridges we built for the stability of Nigeria, the alliances and friendships we forged to advance the frontiers of national unity, and the incredible family bond we created would remain evergreen and be accounted for in history books as legacies of true patriots.

As a human, I have fought a good fight to reclaim my legitimate mandate through the courts, up to the apex court of the land, I have kept the faith as a firm believer in the 'work in progress' of Nigeria's democracy and I have committed everything in the hands of Almighty God.

“I would continue to serve God, man, humanity, my constituency, and the nation in other capacities for the moment. Please keep the fire of a robust and united Senate aglow, under the leadership of our amiable President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, CON, and Distinguished Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Jibrin Barau, CON. God Bless you .”

Senator Nwokocha's dismissal by the appellate court came as a shock to many, as he was seen as a promising and dedicated legislator. This news has sparked discussions among political circles about the reasons behind his dismissal and the potential impact it may have on the dynamics within the Senate.

However, As both his supporters and critics await further developments, it remains to be seen how Senator Nwokocha will navigate this situation. His letter serves as both a farewell and a declaration of continued commitment to working for the betterment of Nigeria, regardless of his current circumstances.
