The Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has commenced the construction of his administration's third flyover at the West End Roundabout in Maiduguri, the state capital.

Zulum was joined by the senator representing Borno Central, Kaka Lawan, and the Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijjani, to officially kick off the project on Saturday.

This development was announced in a post shared on the governor's Facebook page over the weekend.

The project, which is the third of its kind under Zulum's administration, is scheduled to be completed within one year.

According to the post, "The construction of this flyover is in line with our campaign promise to improve infrastructure in Borno State's major cities.

"As part of our commitment to urban renewal, particularly in the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council, the Borno State government is dedicated to enhancing and upgrading facilities within the council.

"We have already constructed two flyovers, and this third one will be completed as well. Before the end of our term, we will ensure the successful completion of all ongoing projects.

"The construction of the West End flyover serves multiple purposes. It aims to reduce traffic congestion, facilitate smoother traffic flow, and create job opportunities for the youth.

"While the aesthetic aspect is important, the primary objective is to alleviate vehicular congestion in the area.

"The custom roundabout used to be the busiest, but with this construction, it will not only improve traffic but also generate numerous employment opportunities for our young population within the Metropolitan Council.

"Half of the construction funds have already been disbursed to the contractor, Eighteenth Engineering Company (EEC), and we assure them of timely payments."
