In a dramatic session at the National Assembly, popular Nigerian content creator, VeryDarkMan (VDM), refused to address the House of Representatives, citing the absence of fellow social media influencer Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky. The appearance was part of a probe into allegations surrounding the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) National Coordinator of Operations (NCoS).
The House had summoned both influencers as part of its investigation into accusations and counter-accusations tied to the EFCC. However, VeryDarkMan took a surprising stance, refusing to speak without Bobrisky present.
In his exact words, VeryDarkMan said: “Today, I will not say anything because an invitation was given out to me and Bobrisky. But he is not here. I don’t see why I will be here and he is not. So I won’t say anything, but my lawyer will.” His decision not to engage caused noticeable frustration among lawmakers and attendees, with many left wondering how the probe would progress.
Meanwhile, Bobrisky, who had been expected to appear, denied involvement in audio clips that allegedly linked him to the case. In a statement through his lawyer, Avwerosuoghene Omuvwie—who represented him in the chamber—Bobrisky threatened legal action, stating that any further attempts to defame him or link him to false accusations would result in a lawsuit.

The absence of Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan’s refusal to speak left the session at a standstill. The probe into the EFCC NCoS aims to examine the influence of high-profile individuals in shaping public narratives around the commission’s work, but little progress was made in this latest session.
As of now, the committee chairman has yet to address the issues or outline the next steps in the investigation. Stay with us for more details as the situation unfolds.
