Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi make sensational return to Kano Pillars ahead of NPFL clash | #NwokeukwuMascot

Nigeria internationals Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi have rejoined Kano Pillars on short-term contracts for the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.








Both players were seen at the training ground of the former champions on Thursday, October 3, 2024, ahead of their matchday five home game against Sunshine Stars.







“Ahmed Musa, Shehu Abdullahi, Nazir Laja, and the rest of the squad trained ahead of the NPFL 2024/25 Matchday 5 clash against Sunshine Stars this weekend,” the club announced via X (formerly Twitter) on Friday.








The 31-year-old Musa is returning to Pillars for a third stint, having previously played for the club in 2009/10 and 2021. Abdullahi, meanwhile, is making his second appearance for the club, having first featured for them in 2012.








Abdullahi, a defensive midfielder, has been without a club since January 2023, while Musa terminated his contract with Turkish club Sivasspor in February.



Although the NPFL 2024/25 summer transfer window has closed, both players are eligible to join Kano Pillars as free agents. NPFL head of competitions Sunday Obaseki confirmed their eligibility, noting that Musa could be registered through the Transfer Matching System (TMS).








“Yes, he can be registered. Ahmed Musa will be on the TMS, so there won’t be any issues,” Obaseki told our correspondent.








Before rejoining Kano Pillars, NPFL champions Rangers International had shown interest in signing Musa. During his first spell with Pillars in 2009, Musa emerged as the league’s top scorer with 18 goals, which earned him a move to Dutch Eredivisie side VVV Venlo. His career has since taken him to Europe, where he played for CSKA Moscow and Leicester City, and later to Saudi Arabia with Al Nassr.
