Ikpeazu Executed Many Gully Erosion Control Projects In Abia State Without Noise by John Okiyi Kalu | #NwokeukwuMascot


And I readily recall the following key interventions:

1. Umuagiu (Amuda)- Isingwu Umuahia gully erosion that threatened the house of Ngozi Okonjo Iweala is probably the most massive with much more than 2km of road construction included. Additional roads in Umuagu area that linked Mission Hill Umuahia and State CID area were also done by Ikpeazu. As shown in this video and photographs, the erosion also threatened a school but was arrested on time.

2. Amuda-Mbala, Umunneochi gully erosion was also defeated without noise.





3. ⁠Ikpeazu reclaimed Umuogele-Umuakwu gully erosion site in Nsulu Isiala Ngwa North. Additional 2km road constructed.

4. ⁠Same Ikpeazu did Umuezeukwu-Ikputu gully erosion control without noise. Additionall 2km road constructed.

5. Amuzukwu-Ibeku gully erosion in Umuahia was also arrested by Ikpeazu without noise.

By the way, do you know that in 2020 Abia State Government led by Okezie Ikpeazu included Ovom Road Aba gully erosion in the NEWMAP-EIB funded project bouquet? The approval was delayed while others were going on hence that adminstration did not pay the counterpart fund before  leaving. While waiting for NEWMAP, we used state funds to commence work on Ovom Street, asphalted it from ikot ekpene road to Girls High School and started erosion control efforts before expiration of tenure.

By 2023 it was approved and  by 2024 European Bank started funding the project under Otti's administration. . 




We are happy that the Ovom erosion control job has finallly been done (or may be ongoing), as per circulating photographs.  Our plan was never to solve all problems in Abia State within the period of Ikpeazu’s adminstration but nobody dare say we didn’t solve a lot of problems and set the proper template for future development of our dear state. 




We just didn’t make needless noise as if we were running “MMM” government instead of simply delivering what the people expected us to do routinely.
