Ukwa La Ngwa Reclaims Its Voice: Stakeholders Rally Behind Ikpeazu, Vow to Rewrite Political Narrative in Abia | #NwokeukwuMascot

UMUOBIAKWA
 — In a bold and unified political declaration, leaders and stakeholders from the nine Local Government Areas (LGAs) comprising the Ukwa La Ngwa bloc have reaffirmed their collective identity, political relevance, and unyielding support for former Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu. The announcement followed a high-level stakeholders’ convergence held in Umuobiakwa Village, the ancestral home of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.

In what is being described as a powerful statement of intent and solidarity, the communique issued at the conclusion of the meeting addressed pressing concerns about political misrepresentation, historical revisionism, and attempts to erase the legacy of Ukwa La Ngwa contributions to Abia State’s democratic journey.

At the core of the communiquĆ© was a strong rejection of ongoing attempts to diminish the achievements of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu’s administration. Stakeholders described these efforts as a deliberate distortion of history designed to cast the immediate past administration into obscurity.

“Governance did not begin in 2023,” the communiquĆ© read. “To push such a narrative is to indulge in historical amnesia and belittle the collective sacrifice and intelligence of Ndi Abia.”

The leaders pointed to numerous infrastructural projects, youth empowerment schemes, and economic initiatives undertaken during Ikpeazu’s tenure, many of which they claim are now being rebranded by the current administration without due acknowledgement.

The communique challenged what it termed the “manufactured miracle” of the present-day government in Abia State, attributing much of the perceived progress to increased federal allocations and foundational reforms implemented during Ikpeazu’s tenure and under federal policies.

“Those who were once loud in criticism have now turned to praise-singers,” the document noted, warning against the use of propaganda to delegitimize previous administrations.

Beyond the political jabs, the communique was also a cultural and historical affirmation. The leaders warned against the commodification of the Ukwa La Ngwa identity, asserting that it is more than a political convenience, it is a living heritage.

“Ukwa La Ngwa is not a political costume to be worn during election season,” the communique stated. “It is a mandate, a legacy, and a bond of shared ancestry and political responsibility.”

They cautioned political actors who seek to exploit the Ukwa La Ngwa identity for personal ambition, stating that any such betrayal of collective interests will not be tolerated.

In a strong show of unity and loyalty, the stakeholders called on Dr. Ikpeazu to move beyond the setbacks of the 2023 elections and re-engage with the people in renewed leadership.

“Regardless of the circumstances or setbacks of the past, our confidence in him is unshaken and our loyalty undivided,” the communiquĆ© emphasized. “Where he leads, we will follow. His journey is our journey; his voice, our collective voice.”

Dr. Ikpeazu, who remains the first and only governor of Ukwa La Ngwa origin, was reaffirmed as the bloc’s political leader, a symbol of their aspirations and a compass for their future direction.

With a tone of renewed energy and political awareness, the communique outlined a three-pronged strategy for the future: Increased political engagement at both state and national levels. Resistance to historical distortion by defending past records with facts and collective memory and Strengthening intra-bloc unity to guard against political tokenism and division.

The stakeholders pledged to intensify political discourse, uphold the truth of Ukwa La Ngwa’s legacy, and ensure the bloc’s interests are neither overlooked nor manipulated.

“This is not merely a political statement,” the communique concluded. “This is a declaration of identity, unity, and resolve. Ukwa La Ngwa is wide awake. The truth is no longer silent. History is not asleep. And our people are watching.”

Stakeholders and Leaders of the Ukwa La Ngwa Bloc that signed the communique includes, Aba North: Hon. Chizuru Kanu, Hon. Charles Eseonu, Aba South: Hon. Obioma Ekpem, Hon. Cherechi Nwogu. Obingwa: Eld. Obinna Nnah, Hon. Okechukwu Nwaeje.

Osisioma: Eld. Samuel Njoku, Chief Nnamdi Amala, Ugwunagbo: Chief Chinwe Nwanganga, Hon. Eze Nwanganga, Isiala Ngwa North: Dr. Sam Ahaiwe, Barr. Bob Ogu.

Others are, Isiala Ngwa South: Dr. Chinatu Njoku, Dr. Chris Nwagboso, Ukwa East: Hon. Emeka Stanley and Ukwa West: Sir Don Ubani, Chief Sam Nwaogu

As the political season in Abia continues to evolve, this communique signals a reawakening of the Ukwa La Ngwa bloc, a community determined not to be sidelined, but to lead with history, unity, and purpose.
