Geriatric Care: Ikpeazu Urges Germany-Based Entrepreneur to Invest in Abia | #NwokeukwuMascot

Cologne, Germany – Former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, has called on Mr. Godfrey Evurulobi, a Germany-based entrepreneur and Chief Executive Officer of Gosab Group of Companies, to consider establishing a geriatric home care facility in Abia State, Nigeria.

Dr. Ikpeazu made the appeal during a recent visit to Mr. Evurulobi’s office in Cologne, Germany, where he commended the entrepreneur’s remarkable strides in elderly care and emphasized the urgent need for such services in Nigeria.

“I believe that geriatric care is vital to improving life expectancy,” Dr. Ikpeazu said. “It was a priority for my administration, which led to the creation of a geriatric unit championed by a diasporan expert, Dr. Chulks Osondu.”

Mr. Evurulobi, who has hosted the last two biannual conventions of the Premier International Association a pan-Nigerian organization where Dr. Ikpeazu served as keynote speaker welcomed the former governor warmly and conducted him on a tour of Gosab’s operations in Cologne.

The former governor expressed admiration for the company’s high standards and the compassionate service of Gosab Care staff.

“What you’re doing here is truly inspiring. Operating in such a highly regulated environment is proof of your competence and credibility. I encourage you to replicate this model in Aba, Abia State. I’m confident you have the capacity to establish and manage a facility that would serve our elderly population effectively,” Dr. Ikpeazu urged.

He recounted how, during his administration, the Abia State Government established a dedicated geriatric unit under the Office of the Governor. The unit was tasked with visiting elderly citizens in their homes to assess their conditions and offer support.

“I remember several distressing instances where elderly people were found unkempt and reliant on expired medications simply due to the absence of structured home care services,” he said.

Dr. Ikpeazu stressed the growing demand among diaspora families for trustworthy elderly care options for their aging relatives back home.

In response, Mr. Evurulobi expressed deep appreciation for Dr. Ikpeazu’s visit and for his unwavering support of initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Abians.

“It is deeply encouraging that even after leaving office, you remain committed to causes that uplift our people,” he said.

Mr. Evurulobi disclosed that Gosab already operates a hospital in Aba and confirmed that the establishment of a geriatric care home in Abia is a key priority under active consideration by the company’s management.

He thanked Dr. Ikpeazu for honoring their invitation, engaging with staff, and offering valuable encouragement, while also wishing the former governor continued success in his future endeavors.
