The resolution was reached on Saturday, August 30, 2024, at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the country home of Distinguished Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Pro-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Member of the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC), and Member of the Board of Trustees (BoT). The meeting was chaired by Elder Abraham Amah, State Chairman of the PDP in Abia State.
In a communiquĆ© issued at the end of the meeting, stakeholders expressed appreciation to Senator Ohuabunwa for convening the strategic session, commending his “consistent sacrifices, vision, and commitment to strengthening the PDP and advancing the collective interests of Abia North.”
The party leaders restated their unshaken loyalty to the PDP, pledging to uphold integrity, truthfulness, and unity in the pursuit of political victory. They warned that betrayal of collective causes for personal gain would no longer be tolerated, stressing that history “will always vindicate those who stand faithfully for unity, progress, and victory.”
Reflecting on the 2023 general elections, the meeting admitted that internal mistakes and sabotage undermined the party’s performance. However, stakeholders resolved to learn from those setbacks by embracing discipline, inclusiveness, and strategic collaboration in order to secure victory in future elections.
On repositioning the PDP, the stakeholders vowed to rebuild the party’s structures across Abia North and Abia State, present credible and visionary candidates, and entrust leadership only to men and women of proven competence and character.
The session ended on a note of renewed determination as party leaders pledged to intensify grassroots mobilization, strengthen internal structures, and work collectively to restore the PDP as the party of choice in Abia State and beyond.
