“Ikwechegh would never have become even a councilor if he had remained in his Igbere village.” – Ngwa Rangers | #NwokeukwuMascot

Aba, Abia State – A socio-political group, Ngwa Rangers, has come down hard on Hon. Mascot Ikwechegh, member representing Aba North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, challenging him to defend his legislative record instead of attacking Ukwa-Ngwa leaders.

In a strongly worded statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Kingsley Ihesiaba, the group accused Ikwechegh of using his office to “recklessly and baselessly” attack prominent Ukwa-Ngwa sons who, according to them, paved the way for his political rise.

“It is disappointing that Hon. Ikwechegh, who was elevated by the benevolence of Ala Ukwa-Ngwa, would turn around to denigrate the very people who offered him platforms for political relevance,” the statement read.

The Ukwa-Ngwa group pointed to Ikwechegh’s past controversies, including the infamous “snail saga” in which he allegedly dehumanized an Uber driver, claiming that the incident brought national embarrassment to Aba people.

They further dismissed his performance in the National Assembly as “abysmal,” alleging that he has contributed little or nothing to his constituency while sponsoring “campaigns of calumny” against Ukwa-Ngwa leaders.

In one of its harshest jabs, the group argued that Ikwechegh’s political career was only possible because of Aba’s openness, stressing that he “would never have become even a councilor if he had remained in his Igbere village.”

The statement also suggested that if Ikwechegh cannot respect the people who gave him political space, he should consider returning to the University of Calabar (UNICAL) to “complete his education” rather than continue embarrassing his constituency.

“If all he would bring to us as payback for our kindness is shame and vilification, then he should get another vocation or go back to Calabar to complete his education. Better still, he can return to his northern friends who once christened him Abdulaziz,” the group said.

Looking ahead to 2027, Ngwa Rangers warned that the lawmaker should not expect the support of Ukwa-Ngwa people in his re-election bid.

“At the right time, we shall mobilize and ensure that he returns to the gutters where he truly belongs. This is not a threat; it is a blessed assurance through the ballot,” the statement concluded.
