In a statement signed by his spokesperson, George Egejuru, and made available to journalists, the lawmaker representing Obingwa-West State Constituency described Akomas as “an elder statesman, a patriotic leader, and a worthy son of Abia who has distinguished himself in service to the people and the nation.”
Erondu Jnr recalled the privilege of working closely with Akomas during his tenure as Deputy Governor between 2007 and 2010, noting that the experience offered him firsthand insight into his boss’ humility, diligence, and commitment to governance.
According to him: “I had the honor of working under His Excellency, Comrade Chris Akomas, during his years as Deputy Governor, and I can say without hesitation that he embodies the values of humility, hard work, and patriotism. His style of leadership has been a guiding light not only to me personally but to many younger politicians who aspire to serve with integrity.”
The lawmaker also highlighted Akomas’ subsequent role as Federal Commissioner representing Abia State at the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), where he made significant contributions to national development. He further noted that as Chairman of the Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria, Akomas has remained steadfast in providing wise counsel, promoting unity, and encouraging resilience in the face of Nigeria’s economic challenges.
While urging the younger generation of politicians to emulate Akomas’ selfless service and commitment to public good, Erondu Jnr reaffirmed that the former Deputy Governor’s life remains a model for leadership in Abia State and beyond.
“On behalf of the good people of Obingwa-West State Constituency, I extend my heartfelt felicitations to my Boss and elder brother, His Excellency, Comrade Chris Akomas, on this special day. We pray for God’s continuous blessings, sound health, and wisdom upon him as he continues to contribute to the progress of Abia and Nigeria,” he added.
