“Worry Not, Justice Must Prevail,” Nkwonta Tells APC Supporters Amid Political Uncertainty in Ukwa | #NwokeukwuMascot

Nkwonta gave the assurance on Saturday, September 5, 2026, while addressing a mammoth gathering of APC stakeholders and supporters at his country home in Akwete, Ndoki, Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State.
According to a statement issued by his Federal Legislative Aide, Comr. O. P. Ifeanyichukwu, the meeting brought together major APC stakeholders, supporters, women leaders and grassroots mobilisers from across Ukwa East and Ukwa West.
The meeting was convened against the backdrop of recent political developments and uncertainty within the APC in Ukwa Federal Constituency.
Expressing appreciation to the people of Ukwa Federal Constituency for their confidence and support, Nkwonta particularly thanked APC members who stood by him during the party’s May 16, 2026, primary election, which he said he won convincingly.
He alleged that some individuals had attempted to take the mandate “through the backdoor,” but urged his supporters not to be distracted by political manoeuvring or efforts aimed at creating uncertainty within the party.
He appealed to party members to remain patient, resilient and unwavering while allowing the judicial process to run its course, expressing confidence that justice would prevail when judgment is delivered.
Nkwonta also highlighted some of his constituency interventions and achievements in the National Assembly, stressing that several were already in the public domain.
He challenged anyone with credible evidence that he had embezzled public funds, diverted constituency projects or sold projects and contracts meant for the people to approach the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) or the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for investigation.
He also acknowledged the petition concerning the Ukwa People’s Skill Acquisition and Recreational Centre, assuring that he would respond appropriately whenever formally invited by the relevant authorities.
The lawmaker also dismissed rumours that he had adopted another candidate for the Ukwa Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Nkwonta maintained that he remained the incumbent representative of the constituency and had contested and won the APC primary election for the 2027 election.
He questioned the logic of adopting another candidate for the same position he currently occupies and intends to retain until 2031, by the grace of God.
He therefore urged his supporters to disregard narratives he described as deliberate attempts to create confusion, suspicion and division within the party.
Nkwonta called on APC stakeholders and supporters across Ukwa East and Ukwa West to close ranks, strengthen their bonds and intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
He stressed the need for collective support for all APC candidates, from the State House of Assembly to the presidency, noting that unity, discipline, loyalty and effective grassroots mobilisation would be critical to the party’s success.
He also encouraged the people to support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the complete actualisation of the Renewed Hope Programme.
The lawmaker further addressed concerns over the deplorable condition of the Obehie–Akwete Road.
He explained that although his constitutional responsibilities principally cover legislation, representation and oversight, he had continued to engage the relevant authorities and agencies responsible for the rehabilitation or proper construction of the road.
Nkwonta assured constituents that he would relentlessly pursue the matter until meaningful intervention was secured, reiterating that the welfare and development of his constituents remained central to his representation.
Speaking at the gathering, the APC candidate for Ukwa East State Constituency, Hon. Adiele, commended Nkwonta for convening the meeting at a critical period and urged party members to rally behind all APC candidates in 2027.
Similarly, the APC candidate for Ukwa West State Constituency, Hon. Chief S.U. Nwaji, described the APC as one united political family and called on members to bury their differences, close ranks and work collectively for victory.
He expressed confidence that the party would triumph from the State House of Assembly to the presidency.
The APC State Treasurer, Hon. Chief John Ajuzieogu, while appreciating Nkwonta for convening the meeting, pledged his support to whoever emerged with the party’s legitimate ticket in the Abia South Senatorial District and Ukwa East and West Federal Constituency.
He admonished members to shun calumny, acrimony, factionalism and internal sabotage, warning that deliberate absence from meetings convened for the unity and progress of the party could weaken its collective strength.
Meanwhile, the APC Woman Leader for Ukwa West, Mrs. Happiness Ahunnaya, and her Ukwa East counterpart, Mrs. Chimezie Agomuo, reaffirmed the loyalty and commitment of APC women in their respective local government areas and pledged to mobilise extensively for the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Chief Sir Esiaba Iwezor thanked Nkwonta for convening the meeting and urged supporters and stakeholders to remain cheerful, hopeful, steadfast and united, expressing confidence that the prevailing political challenges would ultimately “end in praise.”
Rt. Hon. Emeka Stanley, in his remarks, described the gathering as a demonstration of solidarity with the APC and its leadership.
He expressed confidence that justice, equity and fairness would prevail, while commending party members who had remained steadfast despite the challenges confronting the party in Ukwa Federal Constituency.
The meeting was attended by major APC stakeholders and supporters of Hon. Chief Chris Nkwonta from across Ukwa East and Ukwa West, who reiterated their commitment to the party and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
